According to reports, Indian players Sanju Samson, Mohammed Shami and Ambati Rayudu, who were been selected in the team on May 8, were informed of the Yo-yo test results only after their selections. The act has been attributed to the lack of communication between BCCI and the Indian team management.

The Yo-yo test and Dexa tests have become mandatory for the evaluation and recruitment of the cricketers in the Indian teams, estimating their fitness and bone health respectively. But the information regarding the conduction of the Yo-yo test was conveyed long after the teams had been selected for the different series, which was done by May 8.  As per reports by The Hindu, this lack in communication between the BCCI and Indian team management had led to this confusion, where the players were informed of the tests only after the selection.

After the tests three players, Sanju Samson, Mohammed Shami and Ambati Rayudu were dropped from the team. Samson was dropped from the India A team for the tour of England, Mohammed Shami was dropped from the Indian squad playing against Afghanistan in the one-off Test, and Ambati Rayudu, the most recent victim, has been dropped from India's ODI squad playing against England. These actions have been taken owing to their failure of reaching 16.1 score by the Yo-yo test standards.

“Anyone who does gym work every day would clear the 16.1 score. In Australia and New Zealand, it's a high of 19 and Pakistan has set a starting score of 17,” said a BCCI official, reported The Hindu.

The decision to include the tests had been incorporated by the Indian team management and was supported by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). A BCCI official has also stated that were not on the same page with the decision taken by the two supporting organizations of the Indian team. The official also mentioned that though it doesn't have an issue with the fitness criteria being levied, the information regarding conduction of such tests should have been conveyed at the starting of the cricket season.

“These are policy matters that cannot be taken independent of the BCCI. No one is against the players being asked to reach a high standard of fitness. But it's obligatory of the BCCI to tell it's members about the Yo-yo tests before the start of the cricket season,” another BCCI official added.
