Rohit Sharma has slashed all rumours over his fitness as he cleared the BCCI-made compulsory yo-yo fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The right-handed batsman will now travel with the Indian team to Ireland to play two T20Is on June 27 and 29 at Malahide respectively.

One of Indiaā€™s most prolific batsmen in the limited-overs format, Rohit Sharma, created controversy when he failed to show up at the recently conducted BCCI fitness test session ahead of Indiaā€™s upcoming tour of the United Kingdom.Ā 

But the opener smashed all rumours as he shared a post on Instagram which revealed that he cleared the test and will travel to Ireland for the first segment of the tourĀ for two T20I matches against the Irish. It was later revealed that Rohit was exempted from taking the test as he had already sought permission for a prior sponsor commitment in Russia as theĀ brand ambassador of a reputed watch company.

Certain sources in the BCCI informed that Rohit actually wanted to appear for the fitness test once the team landed in theĀ UK but he was told by BCCI that it is mandatory to have the tests in India.

Rohit Sharma could be in contention to lead India in the two-match T20I series against Ireland. Rohit can lead the men in blue in case Virat Kohli fails to attain full fitness. Kohli is currently recuperating from a neck injury that he suffered in the IPL.

India are scheduled to begin their UK tour in the match against Ireland on June 27. The second T20I will be played at the same venue in Dublin on June 29. Subsequently, India will then travel to England for the second segment of the tour. Kohli & Co. will play three T20Is in England which will be followed by as many One-Dayers. The limited-overs series will be followed by the pivotal five-match Test series.
