It has been a tough couple of weeks for Mohammed Shami starting with being snubbed for the BCCI annual contract to being accused of attempting a murder and even match-fixing. However, yesterday, the BCCI cleared the pacer from any match-fixing allegations and has handed him a Grade B contract.

Having said that, the case against Shami is still active and it is only his match-fixing allegation that has been cleared by the BCCI. In case you missed the entire saga, here is a timeline of the fiasco.

Hasin Jahan accuses Shami of adultery, torture, and attempted murder and uploaded images from the pacer’s Facebook chats as evidence. In an interview with ABP News she said, "Everyone in their (Shami's) family used to torture me. His mother and brother used to abuse me. The tortures continued till 2-3 am in the morning. They even wanted to kill me.

"Shami abused me and started beating me even after returning from South Africa. He has been doing this for quite some time now and now I have had enough."

Shami denies any wrongdoing but is excluded from BCCI's annual contracts.

"Ye jitna bhi news hamara personal life ke bare may chal raha hai, ye sab sarasar jhut hai, ye koi bahut bada humare khilap sajish hai or ye mujhe Badnam karne or mera game kharab karne ka kosis ki ja rahi hai. (All of this stuff that is being said about my personal life is false and it is a conspiracy to defame me or throw me off my game)," Shami had tweeted.

"We are in a bit of Catch 22. Ordinarily you would distinguish and say that [the allegation] is a personal issue and the contract is a professional issue. But someone could easily point out and say this allegation is an unsavoury one and you are still rewarding him ,” Vinod Rai had said.

Delhi announce they will wait for BCCI's judgement before deciding on Shami's IPL future

“Look Daredevils management can’t take any unilateral decision in this matter. All players who play in the IPL have a tri-partite contract involving the franchise, BCCI and the player. Yes, we are well aware about the sensitive situation and we are having discussions with top BCCI officials. There is a clause about any player bringing disrepute but it is for the lawyers to interpret it,” a DD official had told PTI.

Shami cleared off match fixing allegations, BCCI hand him a Grade B contract and Delhi Daredevils confirm he will represent them in IPL.

“Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter,” a BCCI press release stated.

“I have just received the confirmation from the BCCI that Shami has been absolved of all charges related to corruption allegations. It’s a welcome news for the franchise and we are happy to have him back. We expect him to join the camp from the very first day,” Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua had said.

“When it came to corruption charges, we never had an iota of doubt that Shami is innocent. He is an honest cricketer and would have never done any such thing. We even spoke to Shami during this period. But we also have to follow the instructions of BCCI. It was only fair that the matter was investigated and he has come out clean.”
