Bangladesh and embarrassment go hand in hand and most of the times, the Bangla tigers have showcased the best examples of how to lose the game from winning positions. March 23rd of 2016 will forever be etched as one of the darkest days in Bangladesh's cricket history, for the way they lost the game.

The image of MS Dhoni whipping the bails off before Mustafizur Rahman could manage to reach the crease off the last ball of the match would go down as one of the most iconic images in the history of the game. The image literally showcased everything that the game offered. There was an insane amount of ecstasy engulfed surrounding the Indian team and the entire Chinnaswamy crowd went berserk in their celebration as India managed to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup that they were hosting for the first time ever. On the other hand, Bangladesh players had nothing but pain and despair on their face for not being able to cross the final hurdle after coming so close to winning the game.

After restricting India to a paltry score of 146 runs, Bangladesh paced their innings perfectly and needed only 11 off the final over. After hitting two fours off Hardik Pandya in the second and third balls, Mushfiqur Rahim thought the game was almost over and Bangladesh would easily knock India out of the competition. Only 2 runs were required off 3 balls to pull off a stunning win, and with Rahim and Mahmudullah in the middle, it was their game to lose. Rahim's premature celebration even before the final rites also showed their extreme overconfidence, but little did he know that he would regret it for the rest of his life.

It was then that the unexpected happened. Both the set batsmen in search of glory decided to hit the ball out of the ground and were consequently caught by Ravindra Jadeja and Shikhar Dhawan respectively. With 2 needed off the last ball now, Dhoni did what he has always done effectively- he slowed the game down. He told Hardik Pandya to take his time because you can't be fined once the last over has begun within time. He, himself, threw away his gloves and was fully prepared for the run-out as if he expected the thing to happen. His prophecy came true as he outran Rahman to complete what turned out to be one of India’s most iconic wins in the modern-day cricket.
