IPL 2018 | Corey Anderson to replace Nathan Coulter-Nile in RCB’s squad

Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile has been ruled out with an injury and consequently from the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad for the upcoming IPL season, which was confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board today. In the absence of the Coulter-Nile, RCB has picked New Zealand’s Corey Anderson.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had bought the Australian all-rounder for an amount of INR 2.2 crores with the idea of making him their premier pacers in the squad. However, the team has suffered an early setback even before the start of the tournament, as the former Kolkata Knight Riders pacer has been ruled out of the entire league, revealed BCCI.

“The IPL Technical Committee has approved a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile - fast bowler from Australia - in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad. Mr. Coulter-Nile has been ruled out of the VIVO IPL 2018 owing to an injury,” the BCCI stated in a press release.

However, the BCCI has allowed a replacement player for Coulter-Nile and RCB has brought in Corey Anderson, who went unsold in the auction. He was bought at his base price of two crores on the basis of registered and available players pool (RAPP).

“In accordance with the Player Regulations, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were allowed to choose a replacement from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP),” the press release added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first match on April 8 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens stadium in the latter's home venue.

The Aussie international made his IPL debut in 2013 and has featured in 26 games so far, scoring 52 runs and claiming 36 wickets. Anderson, his replacement, has played 27 IPL matches in which he has scored 521 runs and has also bagged eight wickets
