Ranji Trophy | Elite C Day 3: Manisankar Murasingh’s 7-for puts Tripura on top against Services

Manisankar Murasingh picked up seven wickets in the first innings against Services as Tripura took a first innings lead of 122 runs in a Round 1 game of Group C in the Ranji Trophy. In other matches, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand took lead in the first innings of their respective matches.

Tripura vs Services 

Brief Scores: Tripura 360/0, 110/0 (Udiyan Bose  64* Bishal Ghosh 44*) leads Services 238/10 (Anshul Gupta 62; Manisankar Murasingh 7/53) by 232 runs 

Manisankar Murasingh wreaked havoc with the ball to bowl Services out for 238 in the first innings. Murasingh finished with very impressive figures of 7/53 in the innings where the Services managed only 238 on the board. Anshul Gupta was the top-scorer for them with a score of 62 while Vikas Hathwala scored 51 runs in the lower middle-order. Then Tripura team is now leading by 232 runs in the second innings with 10 wickets in hand. Udiyan Bose and Bishal Ghosh were unbeaten on 64 and 44 runs respectively when the stumps were drawn on Day 3 in Agartala. 

Odisha vs Haryana 

Brief Scores: Odisha 324/10, 50/1 (Govinda Poddar 22*, Anurag Sarangi 17*; Jayant Yadav 1/9) trails Haryana 442/10 (Himanshu Rana 164, Chaitanya Bishnoi 75; Debabrata Pradhan 3/96) by 68 runs 

Coming out to bat in the final session of the day for the second time in the game, Odisha lost the wicket of opening batsman Sandeep Patnaik who was picked up by off-spinner Jayant Yadav. Odisha in the second innings is on 50 and are trailing by 68 runs with Govinda Poddar and Anurag Sarangi at the crease. Earlier in the day, Harshal Patel scored 72 in the lower-order to take Haryana to a total of 442 in their first innings. For Odisha, Debabrata Pradhan scalped three wickets while Suryakanta Pradhan, Rajesh Mohanty, and Poddar took two wickets each for the home team. 

Jharkhand vs Assam

Brief Scores: Jharkhand 344/10, 44/1 (Ishan Kishan 31*; Arup Das 1/24) leads Assam 298/10 (Gokul Sharma 92; Ashish Kumar 5/59) by 90 runs 

Jharkhand took the first innings lead against Assam and are now 44/1 in their second innings with skipper Ishan Kishan batting on 31 at the crease. The only wicket was picked up by pacer Arup Das and Jharkhand are leading by 90 runs with a day’s play remaining in the first round. Earlier in the day, Assam was bowled out for 298 with Ashish Kumar picking up a fifer for Jharkhand. Gokul Sharma was the highest scorer for Assam with 92 runs while Sibsankar Roy scored 70 there. Skipper Amit Sinha also got a fifty for Assam but couldn’t take the first innings lead. 

Rajasthan vs Jammu and Kashmir

Brief Scores: Jammu and Kashmir 204, 34/0 (Shubham Khajuria 21, Ahmed Bandy 13) need 361 to win against Rajasthan 379, 219/4 (Amit Gautam 68; Parvez Rasool 2/50)

Chasing 395 to win against Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir is 34/0 in the second innings after the end of the third day’s play in Jaipur. Rajasthan batted for the second time and played only 63 overs to score 219/4 with Amit Gautam getting 68 runs for the home team along with a 44-run innings by Robin Bist. Skipper Parvez Rasool picked up two while Umar Nazir Mir and Rohit Sharma pocketed one each for the visitors. Jammu and Kashmir managed to get only 204 in the first innings giving away a huge 175-run first innings lead. Rahul Chahar got a fifer in the first innings for Rajasthan to bowl J and K out for the low total and Rasool was their top-scorer with 47 runs in the middle order.
