Rohit Sharma not to be a part of India A’s four-day game against New Zealand

Rohit Sharma has been kept out of the India A team which is scheduled to play three four-day games in New Zealand against the hosts. He was earlier named in the squad for the unofficial Tests in New Zealand along with five other players from the Indian Test squad for the series in Australia.

India A is scheduled to play three unofficial Tests and as many one-dayers in the tour to New Zealand and Rohit Sharma was a part of the team. According to a statement by the board, the BCCI medical team has advised him to take rest after consulting with the team management.

Mr Rohit Sharma, who was originally named in India A’s squad for the first four-day match against New Zealand A, has been advised rest by the BCCI Medical Team in consultation with the team management and the All-India Senior Selection Committee. The decision was taken keeping in mind his recent workload,” a statement from the board read. 

He will now travel with India’s T20 squad that will leave for Australia from Mumbai on November 16. However, other senior members like Ajinkya Rahane, Parthiv Patel, Murali Vijay, Hanuma Vihari and Prithvi Shaw are a part of the India A squad for the unofficial Tests which is scheduled to begin from November 16 at Mount Maunganui.
