The stars of last IPL’s mega auctions - Manish Pandey, Jaydev Unadkat, and Ben Stokes - are reportedly getting the axe this time. The IPL 2019 auctions have been scheduled for December 16 next month and with numerous external conditions affecting it, all franchises have started contemplating.

IPL 2019 has already taken numerous hits months before the tournament is scheduled to begin. While Indian skipper Virat Kohli has proposed BCCI should rest the fast bowlers during the tournament to keep them fit for the upcoming ICC World Cup, Cricket Australia has altogether refused to let their players play, who would be selected in 15-man World Cup squad. ECB has informed that their players won’t feature in IPL beyond May 1, while elections in India have unsettled BCCI, who are looking for different venues to host the matches.

Amidst all the chaos, life for franchises have become difficult who are doing all the permutation and combinations concerning whom to retain and whom to release. As per their latest reports by Mumbai Mirror, the likes of Manish Pandey, Jaydev Unadkat, and Ben Stokes would all be released by their respective franchises in the upcoming auctions.

After Kolkata Knight Riders decided to let go of the middle-order batsman last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad had paid Rs 11 crores for Pandey, but he could only garner 284 runs in the tournament. The biggest spenders from last year, Rajasthan Royals would reportedly be taking the biggest hit. The Jaipur-based franchise had bought Stokes and Unadkat for 12.5 crores and 11.5 crores respectively. But, while Stokes could make just 194 runs and take one wicket before returning to England midseason, Unadkat could manage to take only 11 wickets.

Not only SRH and RR but other franchises have also started their hacking and chopping procedure. After KKR released Mitchell Starc, Mumbai Mirror reported that Delhi Daredevils have decided to release Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris, and Jason Roy, while Chennai Super Kings have done away with Mark Wood, Kshitiz Sharma, and Kanishk Seth.
