Sarfraz Ahmed’s contribution to Pakistan cricket cannot be undermined in any way given the way he has lifted the spirits of the falling team since taking over the captaincy from Shahid Afridi in 2016. And over the years, he has become more like a guardian to the players than their captain.

Pakistan have really dominated New Zealand in the ongoing series in UAE. After whitewashing the Black Caps in the three-match T20I series, Pakistan might have won the ODI series as well had the third and the deciding ODI not gotten washed out. New Zealand, however, looked to come back stronger since the T20I series loss, acclimatizing well to the UAE weather now before Pakistan again starting to boss the Test series.

The hosts started the series brilliantly reducing New Zealand to 39/3 within the first 21 over before Kane Richardson and Henry Nicholls showed some resilience to take the side over hundred. However, their partnership didn’t last long and as soon as Nicholls got out, the collapse resumed with the Kiwis reduced to 149/9 in no time.

However, New Zealand have a thicker tail with even Trent Boult having the ability to come in and hit loose balls and frustrate opponents. Hence, when Bilal Asif’s looping delivery in the 66th over was just outside the off stumps, the pace bowler came down the track to chip it towards long-off for a boundary. With the opponent almost in Pakistan’s clasp, Sarfraz didn’t take it well and the stump mic resonated his castigating voice as he scolded the bowler for his wrong line and length.
