Prithvi Shaw has stated that coach Ravi Shastri told him not to curb his natural game and to play the way he has been playing since he started his career. Shaw was selected in the Indian squad on the tour of England for the last two test matches but will make his debut tomorrow against Windies.

With the Test series against Windies starting tomorrow, the Indian team management decided to spring a surprise by announcing the final 12 players for the first Test. Prithvi Shaw will make his debut since only two opening batsmen have been announced in the final 12.

"Ravi sir told me to enjoy the game, he said 'play the way you play in Ranji trophy and the way you have been playing all these years'. Getting the Test cap is a great feeling," Shaw told Bcci.tv.

"I am feeling very good, a bit nervous, but when I came to the dressing room everyone like...over here there is no senior and junior Virat bhai and Ravi sir told me, and it felt really nice.

The teenager shot to fame when he set the highest score by any batsman in any organised form of cricket since 1901 when he hit 546 runs in a Harris Shield Elite division match. This was back in 2013, since then the 18-year-old has not looked back. This is what he had to say about his skipper Virat Kohli.

"I think he is a really funny guy off the field. On the field, we all know he is very tough. I just spoke to him he cracked some jokes, he was just trying to speak Marathi which was really funny. He (Virat) helped me out and made me feel comfortable. I have no plan (in nets) I just went with a blank mind. I don't like to get out when I am batting in the nets. I had a throwdown session with Sanjay Bangar, everything was good in practice”.

"I was very comfortable and everyone was very happy to see me in the dressing room. We just finished our first practice session which was very good. I really enjoyed my first day and it's been going great."
