Jharkhand chased down a paltry target of 108 runs to win against a depleted Gujarat side that seemed to lose its strings. In other matches, Tamil Nadu lost to J&K in a thriller as they chased down the target of 169 runs set by Tamil Nadu batsmen and Bengal won against Rajasthan in their encounter.

Gujarat vs Jharkhand:

Brief scores: Gujarat: 107 all-out in 25 overs (Piyush Chawla 41; Varun Aaron 3-21) lost to Jharkhand 108 for 5 in 21.4 overs (Ishan Kishan 64; Piyush Chawla 3-21) by five wickets

Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Gujarat did not have a promising start as opener Parthiv Patel got out for a duck. It was a start of the flurry of wickets as no batsman looked keen to settle and score in a rain-curtailed match of 25 overs a side. The first major partnership for Gujarat came for the eighth wicket when Rush Kalaria and Piyush Chawla stuck together for 48 runs. After that, it was the same old story and Gujarat were bundled out for 107 in the 25 overs. Apart from three wickets that Varun Aaron got, other performers with the ball were Rahul Shukla and Utkarsh Singh who picked two wickets each.

During the chase though Jharkhand kept losing wickets at a regular interval, they never were in real danger as the runs required were very few. Though the start for Jharkhand was not good, the partnership of 55 runs for the third wicket between Saurav Tiwary and Ishan made things easy for them. Jharkhand lost a couple of more wickets before they chased down the target comfortably in the 22nd over.

Jammu & Kashmir vs Tamil Nadu

Brief scores: Tamil Nadu 168 all-out in 39.4 overs (Abhinav Mukund 49, Murali Vijay 44; Umar Nazir Mir 4-26) lost to Jammu and Kashmir 169 for 6 in 40.3 overs (Parvez Rasool 71; Varun Chakravarthy 3-34) by 4 wickets.

It was a day of rain-affected matches as the match between J&K and Tamil Nadu too was reduced to 41 overs per side. J&K won the toss and chose to bowl first which proved to be a good decision as they bowled the opposition with more than an over to spare. When the innings started Tamil Nadu did not start well as they lost their first wicket on 19. But then there was a big partnership of 82 runs between Abhinav Mukund and Murali Vijay who scored 49 and 44 runs respectively but once both the batsmen were dismissed the Tamil Nadu innings collapsed like a pack of cards. Umar Nazir was on fire for Jammu and Kashmir as he picked four wickets.

In the run chase, the J&K side did not start well as they lost their first wicket on 11 and kept on losing wickets until a partnership for the fourth wicket between skipper Parvez Rasool and Shubham Singh Pundir of 67 runs formed. Ultimately captain Parvez Rasool remained not out on 71 to take his side home with three balls to spare. Varun picked the highest number of wickets with three scalps to his name.

Bengal vs Rajasthan:

Scores in Brief: Rajasthan 177 for 9 in 43 overs (Mahipal Lomror 79*, Ishan Porel 4-30) lost to Bengal 181 for 4 in 37.4 overs (Vivek Singh 65, Manoj Tiwary 56*, Anup Majumdar 36*; Deepak Chahar 2-29) by 6 wickets.

The match was reduced to 43 overs a side after a brief spell of shower. Bengal comfortably chased down a small target of 178 runs with more than five overs to spare. Batting second, Bengal did not lose too many wickets as Vivek Singh (65), Manoj Tiwary (56*) and Anup Majumdar(36*) helped score the required runs for Bengal. Deepak Chahar was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan as he scalped two wickets. Earlier in the first innings, Rajasthan somehow reached a score of 177 runs which ultimately did not prove to be enough. Apart for Mahipal Lormor, no other batsman scored well for Rajasthan even as Ishan Porel ran through Rajasthan’s batting order with his four wickets.
