Opener Evin Lewis has withdrawn himself from the national limited-overs team amidst the ongoing tour of India citing personal reasons for the withdrawal. Kieran Powell will replace Lewis in the ODI squad and Nicholas Pooran will be his replacement for the T20I series to follow.

The Windies cricket team were clearly outdone in the recently-concluded Test series against India, which the former lost by a margin of 2-0. There was more grief to follow post the loss in the second Test at Hyderabad as Windies coach Stuart Law was suspended for the first two ODIs after making "inappropriate comments" to the umpires.

And now, Mumbai Indians player and Windies opener Evin Lewis has revealed that his decision to back out from the ongoing tour of India having cited ‘personal reasons’. Cricket Windies confirmed that this development on Wednesday and stated that Lewis will be replaced by Kieran Powell in the ODI squad and Nicholas Pooran will take his place in the T20I team in the series to follow.

Lewis had recently declined a CWI central contract as he chose to follow the route taken by some of the established stars like Chris Gayle and Andre Russell in the recent years. But the CWI selectors chose to overlook that as they named him in both squads alongside some new faces.

21-year old pacer Obed McCoy, who was already named in the T20 squad, will also join the ODI squad after being chosen as Alzarri Joseph's replacement. The ODI series is scheduled to begin on October 21 in Guwahati.

ODI squad: Jason Holder (C), Fabian Allen, Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Obed McCoy, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Kieran Powell, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Oshane Thomas

T20I squad: Carlos Brathwaite (C), Fabian Allen, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, Obed McCoy, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Khary Pierre, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, Oshane Thomas
