Glen Maxwell expresses his disappointment after failing to get into Test team

Glenn Maxwell has stated that not getting selected for the Test series has saddened him and getting to know about it while wearing a Test white kit and cap made him even more emotional. Justin Langer has stated that he wasn't convinced with Maxwell's concentration at the crease in multi-day format.
Maxwell had a tough time in the Test season of 2016-17 as he was rejected to move to New South Wales and was dropped from the opening game of Sheffield shield. He was picked later on but couldn't perform to the best of his ability and only scored one fifty in 5 innings. In 2017, Maxwell made a Test comeback against India and scored his maiden century. After this, he was included in the 2017 Bangladesh Test where he couldn't keep up with his form due to which he was dropped from the Test side.

“It took a while to sink in that’s for sure. It may sound extremely funny but when I actually got the phone call yesterday I was actually wearing the baggy green, as extraordinary as it might sound. I was doing a shoot for one of the sponsors and we were fully in our whites and had the baggy green on and I got the call while it was on top of my head,” he said.
Even though Maxwell kept playing in a decent form in domestic cricket and enjoyed a fine summer in Australia’s Sheffield Shield competition, averaging 50.50 for Victoria, Coach Justin Langer feels that he wanted to see Maxwell score “more centuries” and suggested he was not convinced by his powers of concentration at the crease and his numbers at international level are proof enough of his lack of consistency.
Saddened by the news of not being included in the Test side, Maxwell stated that he will try his best to stack up more runs so that the selectors realise that he should be called back into the team.
“I was still disappointed, don’t get me wrong. I just need to make more runs and hopefully I can pile on enough runs this summer to keep pushing my case forward,” he said.
