Asia Cup | Rohit Sharma's ton against Pakistan makes him ninth Indian to reach 7000 ODI runs

Rohit Sharma became the ninth and the third fastest Indian to score 7000 runs in his ODI career. After scoring 52 and 83 in the previous matches of the Asia Cup, Rohit scored 111 runs against Pakistan to complete the tally and create a milestone in the history of Indian cricket. 

India won their second match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup which saw Rohit Sharma taking the leading role yet again. Not only did he score a brilliant 111 runs to successfully complete the chase but also became the third fastest batsmen behind Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly to score 7000 ODI runs in the process. To further add to his success, this was the 19th century of his career. 

Leading the Indian side in the Asia Cup in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit scored 52 and 83* runs in the previous matches. The second match against Pakistan saw the skipper stepping up his game as he scored seven fours and four sixes to remain unbeaten. 

He is the ninth Indian cricketer after, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammed Azharuddin, Rahul Dravid, Virendra Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, and Virat Kohli, to reach the milestone. 

India's nine-wicket victory was also their biggest win against Pakistan in terms of wickets. Rohit Sharma, along with Shikhar Dhawan, stood strong and maintained a partnership of 210 runs. This made them the third Indian pair behind, Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Singh Sidhu (Sharjah) and Rahul Dravid and Virendra Sehwag ( Kochi), to hit centuries against Pakistan in an ODI match.
