Rajasthan Royals have suffered their fourth defeat in five matches as an all-round display saw Kolkata Knight Riders stride home by eight wickets. While Harry Gurney dominated with the ball, the opening pair of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine ensured they had a day-out in Jaipur tonight.

Chris Lynn (8/10): It was a liberating day for KKR fans. Russell might have taken the IPL by storm, but Lynn had a separate fanbase of his own, who were waiting for #LynnSanity to arrive. It did in the northern India desert state, and smashed their bowlers for a fine 50.

Sunil Narine (9/10): Narine’s wicket-taking prowess may have dwindled a fair bit, but his accuracy is still the calling card. He started the process of putting Steve Smith into a shell alongside Piyush Chawla, and that further helped the pacers who carried on at the other end. And as a pinch-hitting opener, too, Narine played his role to perfection, with a breath-taking 25-ball 47 to set-up the winning base.

Robin Uthappa (7/10): It was just a formality that he had to essay and as history has it, Robin Uthappa has always been one of the first persons to carry that successfully for the franchise based out of Kolkata.

Dinesh Karthik (7/10): He didn’t come out to bat but did you observe DK’s bowling changes tonight. Furthermore, keeping a deep mid-wicket and square leg, he asked Harry Gurney to operate from the leg-side and Steve Smith was eventually cramped from room. There was nothing more he needed to do tonight and that gives him seven points.

Shubman Gill (6/10): If this goes like this, Gill may go home with the highest average in the team, without really doing anything. Once again, he was unbeaten in the run-chase, but in his mind, he must be yearning for that one chance in the top of the order where he could showcase his true potential.

Nitish Rana (6/10): For a change, Rana was kept aside and Gill was promoted ahead of him. That was a simple equation, but with hardly any difference as KKR was almost at the brink of win when Lynn was dismissed. He would’ve enjoyed the tenseless evening though.

Andre Russell (7/10): When was the last time that Russell Muscle had no role to play in a KKR win. Or probably it was KKR’s way of giving tribute to the big Jamaican by presenting an effortless win to him. For the goodwill sake, I am giving him an extra point more than the standard six.

Piyush Chawla (7/10): Every team has that one bowler who restricts run-flow in the powerplay, and KKR made a sound choice by introducing Chawla early tonight. In four head-to-head battle between the leggie and Jos Buttler, the latter has an overall scoring rate of only 5.25rpo. It happened once again and the Uttar Pradesh spinner ended with a bowling figure of 4-0-19-0.

Kuldeep Yadav (6/10): Although he wasn’t as good as Chawla tonight, Kuldeep Yadav’s performance couldn’t have been ignored because he created enough opportunities and forced the opposition to take risks against him. His excellent three-run over in the death earned him a bonus point in my book.

Harry Gurney (8/10): Seems like it is the time of foreign debutants now. After Jason Behrendorff and Alzarri Joseph helped Mumbai Indians with their devastating bowling display, Gurney, coming on the back of BBL and PSL wins, bowled one slower ball after another to put Rajasthan in a difficult position.

Prasidh Krishna(4/10): On a wicket which played slow from the very first over, Prasidh Krishna couldn’t have done much with the ball. Thankfully, others stepped up and that released the monkey off his back as he ended up with a figure of 1/35 in 4 overs.
