After losing the last-ball thriller to Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane has commented that he thought 150 was a low score on yesterday’s Jaipur wicket. Rahane has credited the Rajasthan bowlers and said that the batsmen could have done better to get around 170.

After scoring only 151 runs, Rajasthan Royals still managed to take the game till the final over where Mitchell Santner struck a six to win it for the Super Kings. The bowlers started off well as Dhawal Kulkarni picked up the wicket of Shane Watson in the first over to give the initial breakthrough for the hosts.

The visitors were reduced to 24/4 inside the powerplay period and MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu pulled the team out of troubled waters with a good stand for the fifth wicket. Praising his bowlers, Rahane said that the batsmen could have done well on the kind of wicket that was available for yesterday’s game.

“I don't think so (when asked if he'd have done anything differently). Credit to our bowlers, on that wicket I thought 150 was low. We should have batted better, on that wicket 170 would have been very good. We feel disappointed. It was about having the belief. We knew that if we take wickets in the powerplay, we'll be in the game. Fielding will be crucial, we did that pretty well,” said Rahane after the end of the game, reported Cricbuzz.

In the batting department for the Royals, only Ben Stokes (28) and Jos Butler (23) got starts while all other faltered ending up with a mere 151/7 in 20 overs. The Rajasthan skipper has said that the team will have a lot to improve in the last few games.

“Lot to improve in the last 5-6 games. I'm sure guys will take it on and learn from these mistakes. Sanju was back and that was a plus point. Jaydev was bowling really well. Prayag did really well in his first game. We got to find the balance right depending on the conditions. I still feel you need to win crunch situations in T20 format,” the opening batsman said.

Speaking about his captaincy, Rahane said, “I'm really enjoying my role - lot to learn as well. This is a challenge for me. It's about taking step by step. As a captain, it's a different challenge altogether, but I'm enjoying it.”
