Rashid Khan, who has only managed to bag eight wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season, has asserted that he does not pay too much heed to the number of wickets he picks. Despite the lack of scalps, Rashid has been very economical and his economy of 5.59 corroborates the belief.

In this batsman dominated era, the bowlers bear the brunt more often not, especially in T20 cricket. The balance is heavily tilted in the favour of batsmen and the situation has become more demanding for bowlers. Despite most of the factors favouring a batsman, there are bowlers who have managed to find a way out and prove effective.

The leg-spinner from Afghanistan has been a nightmare at the crease and has mastered the art of effective spin bowling in the format of fours and sixes and has hardly been dominated. Saying that Rashid is economical would be an understatement, he not only squeezes up the runs but also picks crucial wickets. However, Rashid has not managed to bag a lot of wickets like previous editions.

“Taking wickets and not taking wickets doesn’t make any difference to me. I always try my best to bowl economically for the team,” said Rashid at the post match press conference, reported The Hindu.

Rashid also spoke about how the batsmen have been playing him out cautiously and have hardly taken any risks. “If you see from the first game, the batsmen played me more carefully than last year. Even the wickets have been different compared to the last year as it doesn’t turn that much. It gets difficult to get them out until they make a mistake. But I think I am happy with the way I bowled on such wickets.”

Rashid spoke about their game-plan against CSK batsmen on Wednesday, where they did almost each and everything right."Frankly, it doesn’t matter whether you bowl first or second. You should always do the little things right if you want to play good cricket. We bowled according to the plan for each batsman,” Rashid said.
