Prithvi Shaw (5/10): Tipped to be the next big thing in Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw’s batting is all about flashy stroke-play and ability to take on the best of the bowlers. He played few excellent strokes to commence his innings, but a horrible mix-up with Shikhar Dhawan along with a brilliant direct hit from Mandeep Singh resulted in Shaw’s dismissal. 

Rishabh Pant (3/10): That was one careless stroke by Rishabh Pant when the odds were completely in their favour. One shouldn’t take such opportunities for granted and try to make the most of it as they come. All Pant needed to do was accompany Iyer out in the middle, but ended up gifting his wicket instead. The situation didn’t demand anything fancy and Pant, perhaps, forgot they choked against the same side in the encounter earlier. 

Sherfane Rutherford (6/10): After Ingram’s dismissal, another DC collapse looked on the cards but Rutherford and Iyer ensured the history wasn’t repeated. He played a couple of good strokes to carry the team over the line.  

Axar Patel (7/10): Amidst the abundance of impactful domestic players is DCs’ strength this season, they have a fine aura of Indian players. Axar has been a silent operator for DC and the left-arm orthodox spinner continues to deliver difficult line and length. Noot many finger spinners have managed to find success in this batman-dominated game, but Axar is an exception. Mandeep’s dismissal was a proof to Akshar’s guile as he went wide the moment Mandeep shimmied down the track only to be stumped by the keeper. Axar was unfortunate to have been run out on the very first ball as some hindrance by the bowler while sneaking the second run resulted in his dismissal. 

Amit Mishra (3/10): With the Kotla surface earning a reputation of being extremely slow, spinners automatically have a massive role to play. On this surface, someone like Amit Mishra could pose a big threat, however, the wily leg-spinner failed to inspire confidence tonight. While his tweaking peers were chipping wickets regularly, Mishra turned out to be a little expensive at the other end.  

Sandeep Lamichhane (7.5/10): The ability to rise up when the chips are down is the most essential ingredient in the making of a great player. And Lamichhane displayed this not once, but twice in this encounter. Despite Rahul’s early assault, the leggie lured him out with a floater, which turned and outfoxed the right-hander. Although Gayle dominated him with some belligerence, Lamichhane had the last laugh. He broke the KXIP’s spine by getting rid of Sam Curran in the same over and exposed the tail. He may have leaked runs, but got two big fish with his artistic leg-spin.
