Jofra Archer has stated that he is really grief-stricken with the fact that he has to leave Rajasthan Royals’ dugout mid-way to head back to England for the upcoming World Cup. Archer played a vital role in his team’s triumph over KKR on Thursday night, smashing 27 off 12 deliveries.

With the World Cup around the corner, most of the international stars in the ongoing Indian Premier League are returning home to prepare for the prestigious tournament. Jofra Archer is the latest cricketer to join the trend and would be returning to England along with Ben Stokes.

Archer has not been included in the 15-man preliminary England squad but has a golden chance to make it to the final 15, which is set to be announced after the completion of Pakistan series. Archer has been included in the squad against Pakistan and his performance there would determine his fate in the 15-man final England squad.

On Thursday night, Archer smashed the winning runs against Kolkata Knight Riders and guided his side to a much-needed win. This was also his final game before he leaves for England and has bid adieu to IPL on a high.

Archer smashed 27 off 12 deliveries to gun down the target of 176 in the death overs. He is gutted to leave the tournament during the business end and has enjoyed playing for Rajasthan Royals.

“I just wanted to get bat on ball in the last over. I am really gutted that I have to leave the boys. The tournament didn’t go as well as we liked, but moments like these really make me cherish playing for Rajasthan,” Archer said after the win.

Archer was grateful to Royals on investing in him despite not having any international experience. He said, “Anyone that comes in to replace me and Stokesy will do a great job, I’m sure of that. I’m grateful for Rajasthan to take a chance on me, having not played any international cricket.”

Archer has been instrumental for Royals this season, picking 11 wickets in as many games at a staggering economy of 6.76. He has been more than handy with the bat down the order and his absence is certainly a huge blow for the Royals, who are currently placed seventh on the points table.
