Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has revealed that he has watched footage of Ravichandran Ashwin bowl, and that could definitely learn from the veteran offie. Ashwin, who played for Nottinghamshire earlier this season, enjoyed a successful stint as he claimed 23 wickets from just three matches.

Having ended the last two years as the highest wicket-taking spinner, a lot of pressure will be on the shoulders of Nathan Lyon heading into the Ashes, who is expected to play a crucial role in the much-anticipated series. Lyon, who has been an integral part of the Aussie bowling attack ever since making his debut, has transformed himself into one of the best spinners in the world over the course of the last two years, thanks to his control and consistency.

But the 31-year-old offie has now made an interesting revelation, stating that he has been watching footage of Ravichandran Ashwin bowl in order to enhance his impact with the ball in English conditions. The Indian offie had an incredibly successful stint with County side Nottinghamshire earlier this season, where he claimed 23 wickets from three matches, which included three five-wicket hauls. The Aussie has now revealed that he will learn and draw inspiration from the way Ashwin went about his business on English soil.

"I have watched a lot of footage of Ravi Ashwin actually, bowling over here last year and in the tours that he has been here, how effective he has been," Lyon told Mumbai Mirror, reported Hindustan Times.

"In my eyes, he is one of the offies going around. I can definitely learn from watching how he goes about it here in England,” he added.

With 343 wickets in 86 Tests, Lyon is the most successful off-spinner in Australian Cricket history, which has in-turn earned him the nickname of "GOAT".
