The Tamil Nadu Premier League has basically become a joke for R Ashwin, who is pulling off one new action a day to keep the fun element in the tournament alive. Today, as he decided to bowl slingy spin like Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay made it even funnier by taking guard as a left-hander.

During the time of Ashes and of course, India-Windies series build-up, the Tamil Nadu Premier League is hardly a matter of contention for anyone. However, if you have Ravichandran Ashwin in your team, it’s better to keep yourself engrossed in front of the television because there is every chance that the off-spinner would pull off something that you wouldn’t have seen earlier.

Today in the match between Dindigul Dragons and Ruby Trichy Warriors, Ashwin was back in the scheme of things and continued his experiments with his new actions to outfox the Sai Kishore-led Ruby Trichy Warriors. The funniest of them all was his imitation of Kedar Jadhav’s action as he ran with his hand being virtually in the direction of the non-striker and as soon as he reached the umpire, he extended it in the same direction further. The slingy action was a plan to disturb the former Indian opener who seemed to be in very good touch.

However, Vijay is not that easy a cricketer to be bogged down by any Ashwin pressure and so he decided to bat left-handed. After the ball landed in front of him, he moved his body forward and played the ball to mid-wicket - which by virtue of him being a left-hander then had become cover for him. The umpire instantly declared the ball as a no-ball and in the very next delivery, which was a free-hit, Vijay hit Ashwin for a six to ensure that he had the last laugh.
