Shaji Ul Mulk, chairman and founder of the T10 League, has stated that he is very optimistic of former Indian players Yuvraj Singh and Ambati Rayudu participating in the tournament. He further added that salary demands are the only thing stopping them from confirming their participation.

After captaining the Toronto Nationals in GT20 Canada, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh might now be all set to play in the annual Abu Dhabi T10 tournament alongside compatriots Ambati Rayudu and Irfan Pathan, according to chairman and founder Shaji Ul Mulk. Ul Mulk has stated that talks are ongoing between the two camps with the players also being interested, but insisted that the wage demands by the players might very well turn out to be a hurdle.

“We are very optimistic, and I think it is more about a number than willingness. Yuvraj has a certain expectation, and we can only afford so much, let us put it that way,” Ul Mulk told The National.

“We are trying to bridge that gap, but the intention is very clear: he definitely wants to play. The same goes for other players who are retiring. There are ongoing conversations, so we are pretty optimistic,” he added.

The chairman also said that it was up to the players to put a number on the table, after which it'll be in the hands of the franchise whether to match the offer or not. He also said that if more than one franchise matches the offer, then it'll be up to the player to choose which team they want to go to.

“Yuvraj or Ambati Rayudu, for example, will agree on a number, we will float that number to the team owners, then they have the choice. Usually, more than one team owner wants to have a name like Yuvraj, so then it goes to the draft, and it is up to the pick as to who gets him,” Ul Mulk explained.

The third season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will be played between November 15 and November 24 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
