VIDEO | India miss 'Dhoni Review System' as Rishabh Pant fails to contemplate DRS for clean LBW dismissal

Rishabh Pant has grown leaps and bounds as far as batting is concerned but it is almost confirmed that he can never match MS Dhoni's wicket-keeping standard. Today, even though Mohammed Shami’s delivery caught Evin Lewis plumb in front, Pant didn't advise India to ponder about the DRS.

On the fourth ball of the sixth over, Shami bowled a ball that came back into the batsman and the latter was completely caught in the crease. While trying to guide the ball, he failed completely and his movement across the stumps resulted in him being stuck in middle and leg. Kedar Jadhav, who was fielding at square leg, threw the stumps down as Lewis thought about a single.

After the ball hit striker's end, it actually deflected past the diving backward point fielder for a couple of runs. Although Shami appealed for the wicket, that didn’t have any impact on the umpire as he thought it would miss the leg-stumps.

He was clearly wrong there as the replay confirmed that the ball would have struck directly on the leg-stump and even the umpire’s call would have been reversed in that particular situation. What was more bizarre though that Pant didn’t even suggest Virat Kohli go for the review. This just goes on to show that Pant, for all the promise, still lacks on that one front that had made MS Dhoni a cult figure among the cricket fans world over.
