Have you ever seen an opposition player showing confidence to ensure that your team doesn’t lose out on something? Well, this actually happened in the final ODI of the India-New Zealand series when Yuzvendra Chahal’s confidence after getting Tom Latham out LBW saved a review for the Kiwis.

Ever since his return to the Indian ODI against Australia at the MCG, Chahal has been consistent with his bowling in the 50-over format. At a time when the Kiwis were looking in a controlled position as far as the run-chase is concerned, the Haryana spinner stepped in for the visitors by picking up the crucial wicket of Latham who was well set in the middle with a score of 37 off 49 deliveries.

Latham was caught plumb in front of the stumps on the third delivery of the 29th over to become Chahal’s first victim in the evening. He missed the line of the ball while attempting a sweep and the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger after the ball rapped the pad. However, Latham had some doubts in his mind after he was declared out and even went up to his partner James Neesham thinking of going for a review.

Meanwhile, Chahal was seen confidently signaling MS Dhoni ‘out’ soon after the umpire adjudged the end of the batsman's time in the middle. Seeing that, the batsmen decided not to go upstairs and the replays showed that the ball pitched on the leg stump line and there was not much turn to miss the leg stump of the left-hander either. It could have gone on to hit the stumps and New Zealand cleverly avoided losing a review at that stage of the game.
