Karsan Ghavri has stated that Mohammed Shami is bowling at the best of his career and has made a strong comeback after whatever had happened around him in the past. He also praised the Bengal pacer for his varieties and deemed him key to India’s success in the forthcoming World Cup.

Former India pacer Ghavri showered praise on fast bowler Shami after the latter’s tremendous outing in the recently-concluded overseas Tests and ODIs in Australia and New Zealand. Shami had been a revelation in the tour as he became the fastest bowler to 100 wickets in One-Day Internationals for India.

“Shami is an improved bowler and is more focused on cricket. After whatever has happened to him in the last two years, he has come back very strongly. He is bowling the best of his career,” Ghavri told PTI.

He was also confident that Shami would be drafted into the World Cup squad and was 100% sure that he was as strong a contender as any for the major tournament. Besides exalting the Bengal pacer’s ability and accomplishments he also propounded that Shami would be an exuberant addition in the English conditions.

“Shami bowls regularly in (range of) 140-145 (kph) and if he keeps the accuracy, it is going to be handy for himself and the Indian team. He has got variety and can bowl in-swinger and out-swinger. Accuracy is also there. If he develops a good yorker, it will be like an icing on the cake,” added Ghavri.
