Rishabh Pant has stated that his confidence rose to a different level after hitting the century in England in the last Test match of the series. He also revealed that working with Kiran More at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) helped him a lot in developing his wicket-keeping technique.

Ever since his debut against the Englishmen in 2018, Pant has been a consistent performer in Test matches both at home as well as in away conditions. He has an average of close to 50 in the longest format of the game and so far, in his short career, he has already got a couple of impressive away centuries against England and Australia to his name.

His most recent exploit was in India's tour Down Under, where the Delhi keeper got to his highest individual Test score of 159* in Sydney. However, according to the 21-year-old cricketer, the hundred that he got against England at The Oval has helped him gain the most confidence and the things that he started picking up in international cricket in England reaped dividends in Australia.

"When I got that hundred in England, the confidence rose to a different level. From there, I started constantly thinking that how can I improve in certain areas. The process of learning that started in England paid off in Australia," Pant told PTI.

"When you make it to the team at a young age, the more you are keen to learn, the better you get at utilising the opportunities that come your way.”

Pant had joined Kiran More at the NCA to get some advice regarding his keeping techniques after the England tour. According to him, the maiden England tour with the senior national side was a different experience for him as far as keeping in those conditions are concerned.

"Keeping in England was an altogether different experience. After that, I worked with Kiran sir at the NCA on a few specific areas. It included hand-positioning and body posture. Every keeper has distinct movement and I tweaked it a little and it worked,” the 21-year-old added.

Pant has been included in the ODI team for the home series against the Aussies and must be hoping for a call for the upcoming Cricket World Cup starting from May 30. However, after the series against Australia, Pant's immediate priority the Indian Premier League where he would be representing the Delhi Capitals. Playing for the Delhi franchise, he scored 684 in the 11th season of the cash-rich league last year.

"As a batsman, I would always like to bat as high as possible but the team combination is also very important.  We have had a change in name, jersey and New players have come in. It's a good blend of youth and experience. Hope both our departments click this time and Delhi Capitals have a good tourney," Pant concluded.
