Aaron Finch eager to impress against India after helping Renegades win Big Bash League
Australia limited-overs captain Aaron Finch is looking forward to the series against India in the coming weeks after recently winning Australia’s premier T20 tournament - Big Bash League. Finch & Co. will play India in two T20Is followed by a five-match ODI series starting on February 24.
Australia will only have one thing on their mind as they head to India for the away series against Virat Kohli & Co. and that is revenge. The mighty Aussies were beaten on their home turf for the first time ever in January as a dominant Indian team registered back-to-back wins in the Test series and the three-match ODI series as well. In the absence of banned duo, Steven Smith and David Warner, the Aussies have struggled to live up to their usual high standards and will look to change that in the upcoming challenge against the Indian team.
Finch has shifted his focus on the India tour after recently winning Australia’s premier T20 tournament - the Big Bash League. Finch’s Melbourne Renegades clinched their first domestic Twenty20 title in epic fashion on Sunday after city rivals Melbourne Stars, led by Glenn Maxwell, broke down during a tense run chase.
“I don’t think you need anything to put a pep in your step when you’re going on an Aussie tour, particularly to India. If you’re slightly off the mark you’re going to get hurt. They’re the best side in one-day cricket in their own conditions, I think. So you’ve got to go there full of confidence and have a real clear game plan,” Finch said as per AFP sources.
Maxwell, who will also leave for India, admitted he was devastated by the BBL loss, and said his opening batsmen Ben Dunk and Marcus Stoinis should have killed off the game earlier in the second innings.
“I thought we did well with the ball, executed well, did everything right. And up until the 12th over [with the
