International cricketers sometimes get ahead of themselves while playing for their respective countries which results in some hilarious on-field incidents. Sri Lankan bowler Vishwa Fernando was left embarrassed after he carried out a premature celebration against South Africa in the second Test.

The Sri Lankan cricket team registered a narrow one-wicket win against hosts’ South Africa in the opening Test match last week. Following the loss, the hosts were determined to take revenge against the visiting team in the second Test match in Port Elizabeth.

The hosts started off on a positive note after they suffered an early loss of wickets at the hands Sri Lankan bowler - Vishwa Fernando. Fernando was brilliant with the ball early on in the first innings as he took two big wickets in the form of Proteas opener Dean Elgar and veteran batsman - Hashim Amla.

However, before Fernando could take Elgar’s wicket, there was an interesting event that took place in the second Test match at St. George’s Park between the pacer and South African batsman - Aiden Markram. In the fourth over of the first innings, Fernando struck Elgar on the pad and jumped in joy thinking he picked up a wicket. But the umpire kept the finger down and left the Sri Lankan confused.

The visitors immediately asked for a review but were left disappointed after UltraEdge confirmed that the ball pitched outside leg which couldn't have been given out. Sri Lanka ended up losing a review as the home team went on to score 222.
