Peter Handscomb has remarked that wicket-keeping in India can be tough given the humid conditions but said that he was looking forward to keeping wickets in the series. He has also mentioned about how Brad Haddin, the fielding coach of Australia, has helped him in his new venture behind the stumps.

Peter Handscomb was picked as a wicket-keeping batsman in the first T20 against India in Vizag. He had kept wickets for Australia across different formats earlier but having said that it is not his forte, the batsman feels that it is difficult to keep wickets in humid conditions, especially in India.

"I can keep and all that, I just need to make sure I'm fit enough and strong enough," he said. "That if we keep first in a 50-over game, I can still go out there and bat at four or five and make sure I'm still running hard between the wickets. In India with a bit of heat and up to the stumps a lot more on spinning wickets, it can be tough, but it's something I am looking forward to having a crack at," Handscomb was quoted as saying by the Cricbuzz.

The Victorian wicket-keeper batsman said that he had a satisfactory outing with the gloves in the first T20I match despite missing the run-out of MS Dhoni. He had a pretty ordinary match with the bat too as he got out in a very crucial point of the innings, after he top edged a short ball. While Australia are looking to experiment with the squad ahead of the World Cup, Handscomb has been trying to manage workload when donning the gloves and batting in the middle order under hot conditions.

Speaking about Australian fielding coach Brad Haddin, the Aussie said "Hadds is great. We actually did a bit of work together a couple of years ago that put me on the right path with my keeping. We just found a little routine that I can do at training or before a game that just gets me going, gets me ready to keep. Whether I've been training a lot or I haven't been."
