Nathan Lyon will not be a part of the series finale in the three-match ODI series, which is currently level at 1-1, against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa will be given a rare start as Jason Behrendorff is replaced by Billy Stanlake for the deciding match on Friday.

Team India put up a masterclass batting display in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday as they made their way to a six-wicket win and levelled the three-match series 1-1. Virat Kohli and former captain MS Dhoni starred for the visitors as Shaun Marsh’s century went in vain for the home team. The hosts’ will look to bounce back in the series finale on Friday and prevent the Indians from registering back-to-back series wins against them on home soil.

However, veteran Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon will not be involved in the final game after having failed to pick up a single wicket in the two outings at the SCG and in Adelaide. Rookie spinner, Adam Zampa, will take his place in the matchday squad for the third ODI, Australian captain Aaron Finch revealed.

In addition to that, pacer Behrendorff, who picked up the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the second ODI, will also miss out on the final match of the tour after suffering from a sore back. His spot will be taken by towering quick Billy Stanlake, whose last ODI appearance came against England in June.

The Australian selection committee has also added Kane Richardson as an emergency for the final one-dayer. However, he is still available for BBL selection for the Melbourne Renegades who play the Melbourne Stars on Saturday.

Australia XI: Aaron Finch, Alex Carey, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Peter Siddle, Adam Zampa, Billy Stanlake
