At the age of 37, MS Dhoni is still one of the fastest runners between the wickets and even after his dwindling prowess with the bat, he is still the preferred keeper. Today, he showed the signs of it as he recovered 11 yards in a flash by running faster than faster than wicket-keeper's throw.

While there is no denying the fact that the changing landscape of the ODI cricket and with the fielding restrictions Dhoni has failed to cope with the growing demands of batsmanship, the 37-year-old, however, has still more than enough left in his tank to keep up with the physical demands of the limited-overs cricket due to his adrenaline-powered surge between the wickets.

The huge G crowd saw one of the finest examples of the same today when Dhoni made everyone sit up and take notice of his amazing fitness when he recovered 11 yards in a flash in the 22nd over. First, Adam Zampa bowled an overpitched delivery outside the off-stump to which Virat Kohli jammed wide of point region.

Kohli thought it was an easy single and called for it instantly, but Usman Khawaja dived wide of point to collect the ball. By then, Dhoni had already crossed 70% of the pitch and had Khawaja thrown it to the bowler’s end, it was a sure dismissal. However, the misjudgement resulted in the fielder releasing the ball towards the wicket-keeper.

Still, a run-out looked definite on the cards as the batsman still had half the pitch to cross when Alex Carey had the ball in his hands. But, Dhoni started showed why he is still considered one of the fittest and fastest runners between the wickets as he overcame the entire distance even before Carey’s throw could reach Zampa. Incredible running indeed!
