India vs New Zealand | Not only Virat Kohli, India have good openers as well, asserts Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor has underlined the fact that they can’t just concentrate on Virat Kohli as the Indian team also has a good opening combination as well. The batting mainstay of the Black Caps has also referred Kohli as one of the best in ODIs and said that the series against India will be exciting.

India would play a five-match ODI series starting from Wednesday and then three T20Is in their tour to New Zealand as Virat Kohli and Co. look forward to continuing their dominance in white ball cricket. After managing historic series wins on the Australian soil in both Tests and ODIs, Virat Kohli would be leading from the front with the bat after he managed tons in both the long and short format against the Kangaroos.

However, getting ready to play ODI cricket despite suffering a finger injury, Taylor has stated that the pacers would not only prepare for Kohli but also for the openers - Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan ahead of the ODI series.

"Kohli's a sensational player, probably the best one day player going round - easily, really," Taylor said, as quoted by Stuff.

"It's easy to get caught up in him, but they've got two pretty good openers up the top in Sharma and co to come out before Kohli gets in. Dhawan's got a very good record as well. I'm sure the fast bowlers will have their work cut out."

Taylor has recovered from a double dislocation of the little finger that he suffered while fielding in the T20 game against Sri Lanka and is looking forward to the series against the Indians. The veteran batsman, who averages 47.91 in 210 ODIs, is in a very good form scoring 54, 90 and 137 against the Lankans earlier this month.

"I have played a few internationals now and understand my role in the team. I've worked on my game and try and rotate the strike early and be as busy as I can. Different shots against spinners at different stages have maybe evolved my game in a positive way. But you're still human and you still have to start again, and it's exciting against India," the Kiwi batsman explained.
