The Indian cricket team have endured a magnificent start to 2019 as they defeated the Aaron Finch led Australian side by a margin of 2-1 in the three-match ODI series Down Under. Earlier, they began 2018 in the same fashion as they pulled off another historic win by beating South Africa 5-1 away from home.

As a result of performing consistently in the limited-overs format over the last year or so, Indian trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the ICC ODI Team of the year for the second consecutive year. Kohli, who was adjudged as man of the series in South Africa last year, was named as captain of the team as well.

Sharma has formed a formidable partnership with Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the Indian batting line-up and also bagged a century in the recent series against Australia. Kohli continues to impress across all fronts as India sit behind England in the ODI team rankings, for now. Bumrah, who is the top-ranked ODI bowler in the ICC rankings, has been lethal for the Men in Blue and has formed a strong partnership with fellow pacer - Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.

Meanwhile, mystery wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the fourth Indian to be included in the ODI team, which mostly comprised of players from India and England, the top two ODI teams in the world at the moment. Yadav, still aged 23, has been pivotal to India’s success away from home and will certainly be onboard the aircraft when India travel to England for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup.

Other notable inclusions in the team include England trio - Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Jos Buttler and all-rounder Ben Stokes. Apart from these, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman and New Zealand’s Ross Taylor also feature in the team line-up for 2018.
