The stalwart of the Indian side has off late been trying to get back into the side for quite sometime now. Will he be able to make it back into the side again?

Since the tragic phase in the career of the Southpaw that too at the time when he was in the prime of his career, it has been a downhill ride for the once match winner for the National side. Since his return to World Cricket post his fight against cancer, it has been hard for Yuvraj to score runs in the flow which he did before going through one of the toughest phase in any individuals’ life. His return to the game after going through such hardships is definitely a thing to be appreciated but his inability to consistently put up match winning performances for the Indian side which he did effortlessly has been an uphill task for the "Prince of Indian Cricket".

With his name not featuring on the list of the players who have been awarded the contracts for the next season is like an alarm bell for the individual who has been an integral part of the Indian setup for the past so many years. He, in a recent interview, had said that he will take a call on his career after 2019 which means that the cricketer is eyeing a berth in the India squad for the 2019 World Cup.

But as far as the opinions of the experts go, he will have to show one of the best performances of the few left in him in the upcoming IPL to come into the radar of the selection committee which has off late been trying to ripen the crop of the younger talent and reaping the fruits of it in the upcoming ICC event which is just months away from now. Another factor that has been creeping up apart from his batting is his fielding. We have been used to seeing Yuvraj all pumped up and the batsmen fearing to run if the ball was 5 metres either side of Yuvraj but seeing him field at third man in that West Indies series was surely a bit disheartening for all of us.

His abilities are no doubt one the best that any player could have but his failure to replicate his past performance is surely a thing to worry about. The only knocks that have shown the glimpse of the old Yuvraj are that one in the inaugural match of the ICC Champions Trophy in which he scored a half century and was awarded the Man of the Match award and the other one was that 153 against England last year.

Apart from these two and the other two instances there haven’t been many knocks from his bat that are worthy of praise and this a matter of concern for Yuvraj and I’m sure that his fans around the country are eager to see the last bit of cricket that is left with him and give him a grand farewell and let him leave the side at his will when the people ask him why rather than when.
