After an early collapse in the second innings Shreyas Gopal and Abhimanyu Mithun took Karnataka’s second innings total to a respectable 237 runs thus giving them a lead of 276 runs with two wickets to spare. At one stage, the match looked in Saurashtra’s control as Karnataka were tottering at 108/5.

Shreyas Gopal remained unbeaten 61 runs on day three of the second Ranji Trophy semi-final in Bangalore. He saved a struggling Karnataka which had only 89 runs on the board when he came in to bat. Gopal weaved a 61-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Mithun who too remained unbeaten on the personal score of 35 runs.

The duo played out 155 deliveries in the final session of the match to frustrate their opponents who thought of closing out their innings early after getting a superb start early in the innings. The Karnataka batsmen would now be keep on reaching the 300-run mark lead which at one juncture of their innings looked impossible.

For Saurashtra, the bowlers did a great job but faltered at getting the crucial wicket of Gopal, who proved to be a thorne in their flesh. While Jaydev Unadkat and Prerak Mankad gave early blows to Karnataka innings by picking five wickets between them, DA Jadeja too got three crucial wickets to his name.

On the fourth day, the Saurashtra bowlers would like to close the Karnataka innings early as they seem to be runnings away with the match at this juncture. They would also be hoping that the new ball dew in a couple of overs would be helpful for them tomorrow.

Brief scores: Karnataka 275 & 237/8 (Shreyas Gopal 61*, Mayank Agarwal 46; Jaydev Unadkat 3-35) lead Saurashtra 236 (Snell Patel 85; Ronit More 6-60) by 276 runs.
