After Rishabh Pant was selected in the Indian team for the World Cup as a replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan has replaced the wicket-keeper in the India A team for the Windies tour. Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad has replaced Prithvi Shaw who has been ruled out of the tour with an injury.

There has been a huge reshuffling of sorts in the India A team for the tour of Windies which has been organised, keeping an eye on the senior team’s upcoming tour where most of the players are going to be rested. The reshuffling is mostly a forced one or domino effect as Pant and Mayank Agarwal’s inclusion in the senior team made two positions vacant in the line-up.

As a result, Ishan Kishan and Anmolpreet Singh have now been added to the squad, which is currently undergoing fitness assessment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The duo have been excellent performers for the India A team and their respective state teams as well which means the inclusion becomes a straightforward one for the board.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw also suffered an injury which ruled him out the series beginning on July 11. While the nature and extent of the injury hasn’t been revealed yet, the Mumbaikar is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Bengaluru.

Shaw’s exclusion also opened the doors for Maharashtra opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was in a very good nick in the home series against Sri Lanka A in June. The 20-year-old topped the run charts, finishing the five-match one-day series with 470 runs in four innings, which also included an unbeaten 187.

India A squad for the five one-dayers: Manish Pandey (capt), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Anmolpreet Singh, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Ishan Kishan (WK), Rahul Chahar, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Navdeep Saini
