Prithvi Shaw has stated that he is not sure how long will it take for him to recover from the hip injury but he expects to train for Windies tour at the right time. Shaw was supposed to tour Windies with the India A team before being sidelined with a hip injury he suffered at the Mumbai T20 League.

Shaw suffered an injury which ruled him out India A tour and his potential position in the team for the Test series is under severe doubt. India will play two Tests against the West Indies beginning on August 22 in Antigua, which will also count towards the ICC Test Championship points, and Shaw said there is still time to achieve fitness.

“I’m still not a 100 per cent fit and don’t know exactly how much time it will take to recover, the process is going on. There is still time and I’m working with the physios. I can’t put a time frame on it right now. Obviously, the West Indies tour is coming and we will look into the preparation for the series together. I will start training for the series at the right time,” said the Mumbai batsman on the sidelines of a sports conclave organised by Indian Oil Corporation, reported Scroll.

Earlier, when he was ruled out of the tour, there was no clarity regarding the nature and extent of the injury from BCCI side, which led to some media reports claim that the young batsman was out of the team due to fitness and lifestyle issues.

"Right now, I am trying to get back to full fitness as soon as possible. Once I am fit, I'll speak to the selectors and team management to figure out how we can plan for the rest of the season."
