Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Khulna Titans have signed star Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as one of their two overseas signings for the upcoming season. Watson, who is practising his trade in T20 leagues around the world, will be playing in the BPL for the first time.

Khulna Titans, who finished bottom of the table in the sixth edition of BPL earlier this year, have signed Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as one of their overseas player for the upcoming season, as confirmed by the club themselves, reported Cricbuzz. Watson, whose last appearance in competitive cricket was a blistering 80 in the final of the Indian Premier League, is expected to be available for the whole BPL season, which is set to commence from December.

"Khulna Titans is excited to have Shane Watson join the franchise. He is a true champion, having won many titles for his country and the franchise teams he has represented around the world. His experience and his winning mentality will contribute significantly to the team. Hopefully Shane will propel us to the title that we have been working so hard for," Khulna Titans Managing Director Kazi Inam Ahmed was quoted as saying by cricbuzz.

Watson, who was named Player of the Tournament in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year, narrowly fell short of delivering the title for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL final against Mumbai Indians. He will be making his BPL debut with the Titans, and the veteran all-rounder expressed his joy and excitement to be participating in the tournament.

"I am super excited to join the Khulna Titans for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League season. The BPL is a tournament that I have always wanted to play in and now I finally get my chance. There are so many great cricketers playing in the BPL from the local Bangladesh stars to the overseas superstars, so it is going to be very special to finally be a part of it,'' said Watson, as reported by Cricbuzz.

"The other very special thing for me is to have the chance to play in front of the incredible Bangladesh cricket loving fans again. The coaching and management team at the Khulna Titans are putting together an amazing squad so hopefully we can bring home that title that we have always been looking for," the all-rounder added.

Watson famously struck his highest ODI score, a blistering 185* of just 96 balls, which included 15 monstrous sixes, against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2011.
