Despite rumors of fatigue in the media, senior India team members like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and others have given the nod for next month's Tour of West Indies. However, the status of injured duo - Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar - who departed the WC squad earlier this month is still unknown.

The Indian cricket team endured a massive heartbreak in their 18-run semi-final loss at the hands of New Zealand at the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019. Virat Kohli & Co. crumbled in the second innings against the Kiwis and a late effort from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja proved to be too little too late as India exited the quadrennial showpiece without a medal.

Next on the Indian team's agenda is the tour of West Indies early next month. While reports in various media outlets claimed that the likes of Virat Kohli and other senior members will be rested for the series, inside sources within the BCCI told TOI that those rumors were totally false.

The likes of Kohli, Rohit Sharma and other senior members within the Indian team have given their approval to be involved in next month’s outing. However, MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are expected to miss the series and get some much needed rest ahead of a busy season. The sources further added that the BCCI selection committee is keeping track of the recovery of injured duo - Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar - who were injured during this year’s World Cup in England.

“There’s no word yet on Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar (who had to leave the World Cup midway due to injuries). The chief selector may have an idea because he’s been following this up. Let’s see, we’ll have a better idea tomorrow on how they’re recovering,” inside sources told TOI.

In addition to that, the reports also quashed any rumors of a rift within the Indian dressing room owing to India’s unfortunate exit at the World Cup.

“Absolute nonsense is being pedalled, like 'there’s a rift in the team, there’s trouble brewing', what not. It’s really uncalled for. Which cricketer wishes away another cricketer? Only one who’s never played the game. The World Cup ended and someone wanted a new headline. It’s disappointing how some people twist and turn things to suit their interests,” the sources added.
