Virat Kohli has said that Jasprit Bumrah had asked him not to 'joke around' when he was to bowl in a match. Kohli was referring to the two overs he bowled in an ODI way back in 2017 in the series against Sri Lanka which was also his last bowling spell in international limited-overs cricket.

Virat Kohli, as a medium pacer, has four wickets to his name in ODIs in 48 innings and as many wickets in T20Is in 12 innings but has zero wickets in Tests despite bowling 27.1 overs. The star batsman last bowled in international cricket in 2017 and recalled an incident when Jasprit Bumrah trolled him for his bowling in an ODI against Sri Lanka.

ā€œIt was the during the ODI series in Sri Lanka (in 2017) where we had almost won everything, I asked MS (Dhoni) if I could bowl. Just when I was getting ready to roll my arm over, Bumrah shouted from the boundary and said ā€˜no joking around, it is an international gameā€™,ā€ he cheekily said in an interview to host broadcaster of the World Cup, reported PTI.

The Indian skipper is still seen bowling in nets and even went on to say that he believes in his bowling but none of his teammates does, albeit in a lighter vein.Ā

ā€œNo one in the team believes in my bowling but I do. After that I had back issues and then never bowled (in actual matches).

ā€œI used to follow James Andersonā€™s action when I was at the academy (in Delhi). Later, when I got to play alongside him, I told him about that story. We both had a good laugh over it,ā€ Kohli signed off.
