Ever since Jofra Archer has made his ODI debut, strange things keep on happening as if he is the official “headline maker” for the World Cup. Today, his ball kicked from the length, touched the off-stump, removed Soumya Sarkar's bails before going all the way and hitting the boundary on the full.

Archer’s immense ability as a pacer was never in doubt but how easily could he make it into the team and ensure a smooth transition was questionable. However, he put all of them to rest with a classy display of skill, temperament and most importantly, swagger. His delivery to dismiss Sarkar would probably be one of his sweetest so far - not because it had something extraordinary in it, but because of what had unfolded after it.

Archer bowled a 153 kph length delivery on the stumps to Sarkar who was deep in the crease and wanted to create enough room for himself before poking it. It was a good plan but Sarkar made the mistake of keeping a huge gap between bat and pad. During that time, the ball slowly sneaked in and kissed the off-stump to leave Sarkar embarrassed. If you think, the skill had stopped flaunting its prowess, well, you are in for a surprise as Archer showed he can do even more stuff with the ball than he has been assigned to.

The ball, after removing the bails from the groove, bounced suddenly and beat Jos Buttler before hitting the boundary rope on the full. In other circumstances, it would have been a bye six.
