Eoin Morgan has stated that there is nothing to panic, referring to the injuries to himself as well as to Jason Roy while fielding in the encounter between England and West Indies. The hosts have had their fair share of injuries, with fitness concerns regarding Jos Buttler and Mark Wood as well.

England opener Jason Roy had walked out of the field in the first innings of the encounter between England and West Indies on Friday as he had suffered a pull in his left hamstring. Soon, skipper Eoin Morgan also followed him because of a back spasm. The duo did not come out to bat in England’s victorious chase. Nevertheless, the skipper ensured that there is nothing to panic.

“We are not at panic stations or anything yet. We will just see how we get on in the next 48 hours and go from there,” he said at the post-match press conference, reported AFP.

Morgan had stood up during the interaction due to the pain. He shared that it was due to his back spasm and also that the status of the injury will get more clear in a day.

“Yeah, it’s sore. I’ve had back spasms before. We think it is another back spasm. It normally takes a few days to settle down. It’s unclear. We’ll know more in the next 24 hours, see how I pull up tomorrow,” the 32-year-old revealed.

The skipper was still unsure about that status of Roy’s injury and disclosed that it will take about two days for his results to come out.

“I don’t know how he will pull up tomorrow. He had a tight hamstring so he will go for a scan tomorrow and probably it will take 48 hours before we have the results and stuff,” said the Ireland born player.

The vice-captain Jos Buttler had also endured pain in his hip previously in the encounter against Bangladesh while pacer Mark Wood had flared up the injury in his left ankle in the same encounter. Both featured in Friday’s encounter but may be assessed again prior to the encounter against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka on June 18 and 21 respectively. The skipper pointed out that the side needs to be cautious with two tightly-scheduled games coming up.

“I don’t know. Like everybody, we will have to see how it pulls up, particularly probably with myself and Jason, maybe a couple of the bowlers, and do a risk assessment and see how risky it is going into that game, bearing in mind we have two games in quite a short space,” Morgan concluded.
