Dilip Vengsarkar has heaped praise on Rohit Sharma who put in a Man of the Match performance in the recent win against Pakistan scoring a brilliant 140 off just 113 deliveries. The Men in Blue utterly dominated their rivals as they eventually won the match by 89 runs (DLS method) on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma proved yet again why he is an indispensable part of the Indian batting line-up with a marvellous 140 against arch rivals Pakistan in Manchester on Sunday. The 'Hitman' looked to be on his way to scoring his fourth double-century in the ODI format only to be dismissed in a rather soft manner off a Hasan Ali delivery in the middle overs.

However, Sharma did more than enough to ensure that India crossed the 300-run mark with considerable ease and defeat Pakistan by 89-runs via DLS method. Former India chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar was all praise for the Mumbai-born batsman as he labeled Sharma as one the best players in the world.

"He (Rohit) has matured. He is playing for years now and is an experienced player. And I think (he is) one of the best in the world. The innings which he played yesterday was outstanding and out of the world," Vengsarkar told reporters on Monday.

The former India cricketer added that players like skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul being in good form bode well for the Indian team going ahead in the competition. But he was not yet convinced about the number four and five spots in the batting order.

"No 4, 5 batsmen - I am still not convinced about it. But I hope Vijay Shankar plays well in the remaining games. I have not seen him play, so I can't say anything on him. But I hope he does well. Kedar Jadhav was picked as well and I hope they (the selected batsmen) do well.

"Virat (Kohli), Rohit, Dhawan, Rahul - they are class players and are in great form as well and that augurs well for the Indian team," Vengsarkar added.
