Fast bowlers are not usually associated with great bits of fielding owing to their size but, in modern day cricket everyone needs to contribute. Not only did Sheldon Cottrell show off his fielding skills against Bangladesh but also made sure he is on the collage of great World Cup moments forever.

After restricting West Indies to a challenging total of 321, Bangladesh got off to a brisk start in the run-chase and were well on course by the end of 17th over. West Indies, on the other hand, were in desperate need of a wicket but Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan were playing it out cautiously with hardly any errors. West Indies needed something spectacular to break the partnership, which was slowly taking the game away from them. And just when things appeared to be slipping out of control Sheldon Cottrell sprung a surprise with his incredible athleticism and awareness.

On the third delivery of the 18th over, Cottrell bowled a length ball that Tamim drove right back at him. He shifted his weight on the front foot, which provided that fraction of a second for Cottrell, who collected the ball and took a shire at the stumps in no time. Tamim was well short of his crease as Cottrell pulled off a wonder and gave his team the much-needed breakthrough. While most bowlers use this as a scare tactic to intimidate batsmen, Cottrell’s presence of mind and skill to actually pull it off might see more bowlers attempting to dismiss opponents in this manner.
