Virat Kohli has revealed that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to miss 2-3 games due to the hamstring injury he picked up while bowling against Pakistan. The Indian skipper also added that the team were not too worried because Mohammad Shami would be an able replacement for the injured pacer.

Chasing a target of 337, Pakistan were afforded a lucky break when Bhuvneshwar Kumar pulled up in just his third over with a hamstring niggle. The pacer who had been tormenting the batsmen till that point was taken off the field to be examined. While he did not bowl another ball in India’s win, Virat Kohli revealed that the pacer would miss 2.3 games.

"He has a slight niggle. It was because of slipping on the foot marks. It doesn't look too serious at the moment. We are going to give it some time. Hopefully, he will be ready in a couple of games, if not max by three games from now," Kohli said after the game, reported Cricinfo.

However, the Indian skipper was quick to add that the team was not too worried with the injury since it was a major one and because of the fact that they had an able replacement ready. Coming into the tournament, it had appeared that Mohammad Shami had usurped the starting role in the team but it was Bhuvneshwar who got the nod in the first game. The latter started every game after that and appeared to be back to his best before getting injured.

"He himself feels that the niggle is not too bad. Just time (resting) will heal it. He is going to be a very important factor for us so hopefully, he can recover well in time. We have got Shami ready and raring to go so we are not too worried about where the situation stands," Kohli explained.
