The ongoing World Cup has produced some whimsical moments on the field and the one that piques the interest is an error caused while running between the wicket. Today, Kedar Jadhav was granted a much-needed reprieve after the fielder, who was supposed to collect the ball, slipped mid-way.

After a decent start, the Indian batsmen were looking to capitalise on the death overs and milk as many runs as possible. MS Dhoni had spent enough time out in the middle and so did Kedar. This was a golden chance for Afghanistan to tighten the noose with another wicket and get a new man in.

On the first delivery of the 45th over, MS Dhoni came down the track to whip one from Rashid Khan but only managed to get some pad on it. He initially looked for a single to which Kedar responded and came half-way through the wicket just when Dhoni decided to go back. Jadhav was left stranded in the middle and Rashid had enough time to collect the ball and throw it towards the bowling end where Rahmat Shah was charging from mid-off.

Jadhav had no chance of making it back to the crease but luck favoured him as Shah slipped just before the stumps and Rashid missed a direct hit to grant batsman a reprieve. It would be interesting to see how costly this error would cost Afghanistan as Kedar is widely reckoned to churn out big runs in the death overs.
