India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun has stated that it is yet to be decided whether India will wear an away jersey in the World Cup clash against England or whether the home strip will suffice. He further said that the team is focused on the match against West Indies instead of anything such trivial.

Rumours have been afloat from before the World Cup began that India may need to sport an away jersey which will do away with the primary blue colour and be dominated by the hue orange when they face England. This is due to the fact that England themselves have a home jersey that is identical in colour to India’s and usually two teams avoid wearing similar kits in case there is any confusion on the field.

Recently, South Africa were seen wearing an alternative jersey, having yellow t-shirts instead of the standard green, against Pakistan who also have green primary jerseys.

The BCCI had released a rough idea of how the kit might look, with the torso and sleeves entirely orange while the collars will retain the original blue colour. Social media has been divided over it, with some downplaying it as unattractive and against India’s spirit of bleeding blue. Others however have expressed their love for the new kit and have taken it as a welcome change.

As far as official channels are confirmed, there has been no confirmation yet. In fact, India’s bowling coach himself admitting that the Men in Blue were focused on their game and playing to their strengths against West Indies instead of worrying about what colours they will be wearing in the next game.

“To be very honest, we aren’t aware what colours we will be wearing, we haven’t given any thought to it. Our focus is on tomorrow’s match. We bleed blue,” Bharat Arun said in the pre-match press conference, reported Cricktracker.

India will take on the Windies tomorrow before facing England in a crucial tie for both the countries on Sunday in Birmingham.
