Just like fantastic seam bowling and scintillating centuries, incredible catches do pique the interest of many. During the high-voltage encounter between Pakistan and New Zealand at Edgbaston, Martin Guptill’s superhuman effort sent Imam Ul Haq packing to help his side dent Pakistan’s run-chase.

After a terrific comeback with the bat, New Zealand needed early wickets in order to put any pressure on Pakistan. Trent Boult provided the first breakthrough but the situation demanded wickets in heap. New Zealand are one side that converts half chances into opportunities at a staggering frequency. They are probably the best fielding side in this tournament and the first few overs in this encounter was just a testament to it.

On the second delivery of the 11th over, Lockie Ferguson surprised Imam Ul Haq with some serious pace and bounce. The southpaw didn’t anticipate it properly and ended up getting an edge while trying to negotiate it. Initially, the ball gave an impression of landing in no man’s land, but Martin Guptill had other ideas. Knowing for his electrifying fielding, Guptill steamed in and dove like a Superman to hand New Zealand a much-needed breakthrough.

Though his bat may not have been spilling fire, Guptill continues to be an asset on the field. In a low-scoring game, moments like this can lift the team’s morale and provide the much-needed impetus.
