Australia spinner Adam Zampa played down the idea that Virat Kohli is his bunny after getting the better of the Indian batsman in the third ODI at the JSCA International Stadium on Friday. Australia pulled off a win to reduce the gap to 2-1 after three games in the ongoing ODI series against India.

The Australians were at their very best on Friday in Ranchi as they pulled off a crucial 32-run win against India in the third ODI at the JSCA International Stadium. Usman Khawaja starred with the bat for the visiting team as Virat Kohli’s 123 went in vain for Ravi Shastri’s side. Australia spinner Adam Zampa was at it again as he picked up the crucial wicket of the Indian captain who looked in fine form last night. Kohli was dismissed at 124 off just 95 deliveries which got Australia back in control of the game. However, Zampa dismissed claims that Kohli is his bunny after claiming his wicket on multiple occasions during the ongoing season.

“We bowled well collectively. The quicks upfront were amazing, Virat is a serious player, it was good to take his wicket when we did. I don't think he's my bunny, he's one of the hardest players to bowl to. I was under a bit of pressure, if he had hit a couple of more boundaries, the momentum would have shifted towards them,” Zampa said at the post-match interview.

The Australian opening pair of Khawaja (103) and stand-in skipper Aaron Finch (93) put up a strong stand at the top which led Australia to a strong total of 313/5 after 50 overs. India fell short of the target by 32 runs as they were bowled for 281. Zampa was adamant that the message from the coaching staff was to focus on taking wickets which the bowlers employed on the pitch.

“The message from the management and the coach was to take wickets, the mindset was the same. The wickets here in India are pretty good and the outfield fast, that has a say in your bowling,” the spinner concluded.

India will look to seal the series by pulling off a win in the fourth One-Dayer which will be played in Mohali on March 10.
