Andre Russell produced one of the most sensational batting performances in the T20 cricket to help Kolkata Knight Riders secure a come-from-behind victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While Russell's performance was just brilliant, Nitish Rana proved his worth with a fine half-century.

Chris Lynn (2/10): Masterstroke by SRH or Chris Lynn’s bad decision making. Bhuvneshwar Kumar brought in Shakib Al Hasan in the second over itself to put the element of doubt in Lynn’s mind and that immediately worked as the Aussie played against the turn to lose his wicket. Will he be able to pull himself up and not reveal his weakness in the coming matches? Well, only time can tell.

Nitish Rana (8.5/10): Alongside Surya Kumar Yadav, if there is one player who always pulls himself up when the IPL arrives, it has to be Nitish Rana. He didn’t have any stage fear and found the gaps with surgical precision. This innings must give KKR some confidence, even though Narine doesn’t get batting fit for the next few matches.

Robin Uthappa (8/10): After Lynn’s dismissal, KKR needed an experienced hand around to give a base to the team, and Uthappa essayed the role with elan. He played mostly on the ground, realising the need of him to be there, once he saw Nitish Rana was confident with his stroke-making, the KKR skipper took the chances. One word for it - a good innings.

Dinesh Karthik (2/10): Karthik talked about playing more balls in the middle, but ended up being deceived by a Sandeep Sharma knuckleball. More than unnecessary, it was the kind of mindset that is the problem in the long run. Captaincy demands the highest level of professionalism, but DK hardly showed any of them in Kolkata today.

Andre Russell (9/10): What a player! Russell is one of those cricketers who need to just be there and then unleash the fireworks and nevermind his 6.33 average against Sunrisers, he let Eden dance to his tunes. His 49-run innings was probably one of the finest back-from-the-dead acts in the league. The innings was so impressive that it is easy to forget that he got rid of David Warner in the first innings as well.

Shubman Gill (6/10): Came out to bat at No.6 and didn’t have a lot to do when Russell was striking big. But Gill waited for his turn and hit two back-to-back sixes to seize the game for the team. He was active on the field, saving at least a couple of boundaries easily at cover and almost pulled off an incredible catch at mid-on as well. However, he must have wished to get a chance to bat up in the order to prove that he can also score quick runs.

Piyush Chawla (5.5/10): One of the few wicket-takers in the KKR line-up, Chawala created few opportunities in his three-over spell, but managed to secure only one wicket in the entire game. Surprisingly enough, when David Warner was batting, he didn’t bring his googly more often, despite creating an LBW chance on a wrong’ un.

Kuldeep Yadav (5/10): The Indian left-arm wrist-spinner getting only two overs just highlighted the fact that KKR will struggle for balance as the season progresses thanks to this scrambled thinking. Seven bowlers were employed, but when the wicket was needed, Kuldeep was held back. While that could only be explained by Dinesh Karthik, Kuldeep shouldn’t be faulted for not performing to his top potential today.

Sunil Narine (4.5/10): One of those days where KKR’s main player failed to make any sort of impact on the side. His three overs resulted in 29 runs and due to an injury to his finger, he didn’t even open the innings with the bat where he could have redeemed himself. Unfortunate one may say, but then again, his primary job was with the ball and that’s why it is very hard to cut him any slack.

Lockie Ferguson (4.5/10): Here is the catch. When two batsmen are going strong, you needed to bring all the tricks out of the bag, but Ferguson hardly did. Given the fact that the wicket didn’t have much for bowlers, he kept on bowling a flatline regularly which didn’t help the cause at all.

Prasidh Krishna (6.5/10): The Karnataka pacer was just a make-shift arrangement for KKR last year, but if you would have caught a glimpse of his bowling today, you wouldn’t believe the audacity with which he bowled. The beamers were as threatening as his length balls on the up which created a considerable amount of problems for Jonny Bairstow. Remained unlucky as far as wickets are concerned though.
